As we all wait impatiently for an end to the current crisis, our partner hotel Grand Resort 5* in Limassol today announced they plan to open on Saturday 13th June. The Cyprus Government was amongst the first to enforce an island-wide lockdown with all hotels closed until at least 30th April. Whilst we do not yet have an official date from the authorities for the gradual easing of restrictions, the very strict measures put in place do seem to have been successful in minimising the spread of the virus.
Grand Resort have made their decision based on indications from key airlines that flights into Cyprus will start on 17th June. We do not have further details on where flights will be coming from and there will certainly be initial restrictions and tight monitoring on any arrivals from overseas. We will keep you updated on developments and any further news from our hotel partners, airlines and the local authorities but nonetheless, we feel that this is a positive indication for our destination and our industry that there is life after Covid-19 and that we will start to see a return to “the new normal” within the next weeks and months.
